Q

How does Vela find jobs for me?

A

Vela automatically searches multiple job sources — including LinkedIn, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, Monster, Dice, Google Jobs, CareerBuilder, SimplyHired, Builtin, and more — every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After searching, our AI scores every listing 0–100% for fit. Only 70%+ matches appear on your dashboard by default — and you can always lower to 55% if you want to see more. Jobs are sorted by recency, though some listings may be up to two weeks old depending on when they were posted.

What does the Match Score mean?

A

We use a 0–100% scale to show how well your background aligns with a specific job. Our AI analyzes required skills, seniority level, location, salary expectations, and your career goals — then gives a percentage with a written explanation. A 78% means “This looks like a strong match because…” A 45% means “This doesn’t seem right for you because…” You see the reasoning for every score.

What is the Hiring Manager Brain?

A

Hiring Manager Brain is our intelligence layer that learns where YOUR type of job actually posts. After each search, it updates based on what it found and where. Over time, Vela gets smarter about which of the multiple job sources post the best opportunities for your specific background — so your results keep improving the longer you use it.

What are Close Matches?

A

When Vela finds fewer perfect matches than expected, you’ll see a Close Matches section on your dashboard. These are jobs that scored 50–69% — close to qualifying but not quite there. You can save any Close Match to your main dashboard or skip it.

Does Vela ever apply to jobs without asking me?

A

Never. You stay in complete control. Vela finds jobs and prepares your materials, but you decide which jobs to apply to. Nothing is ever submitted on your behalf. We believe auto-apply tools are dangerous to your reputation — so we built the opposite.

How often do you search for jobs?

A

We run our Deep Search agents three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This schedule catches new postings as they go live, ensuring you are among the first to apply.

Does the AI hallucinate or add fake experience to my resume?

A

Absolutely not. We have a strict No Fabrication rule. Vela tailors your resume using only your actual experience — rephrasing and highlighting your real strengths to match what recruiters are looking for. You review every resume before it goes anywhere. We never invent a single word.

Can I edit the tailored resume before sending?

A

Yes. Every tailored resume is emailed to you as a Word document. Read the changes, edit anything that doesn’t feel right, add or remove sections — then send it whenever you’re ready. You stay in control at every step.

Where are my resumes saved?

A

Every resume Vela builds is emailed to you as a Word document. If you’ve connected your Google Drive during onboarding, a copy is also saved there automatically. You have 100% ownership and can make any final edits before applying.

Does Vela generate cover letters too?

A

Cover letters are included with Plus and Pro plans. Basic plan users receive tailored resumes only. All cover letters are job-specific, never generic, and emailed to you as Word documents for review and editing before you send anything.

What is Nova?

A

Nova is your AI career coach, available 24/7 inside your Vela dashboard. She guides your onboarding, answers job search questions, helps with interview prep, and sends you personalized coaching every Monday. She feels like an encouraging mentor who knows exactly what you need — not a generic chatbot.

How does onboarding work?

A

Onboarding is a 10–15 minute conversation with Vela. You share your work history, skills, and goals, and Vela recommends job titles using occupational taxonomy. Once the onboarding conversation is complete, Nova steps in to help build your master resume. The whole process feels like chatting with a career coach, not setting up software.

What’s the weekly coaching email?

A

Plus and Pro users receive a personalized email every Monday with: (1) industry interview questions for your target roles, (2) a skill spotlight — an underrated skill that makes you stand out, and (3) Nova’s personalized tip based on your search progress. It’s coaching, not marketing — we want you to get hired.

What is the Skills Gap Analysis?

A

Every 31 days, Vela sends a Skills Gap email to Plus and Pro users comparing your profile against the last 10 jobs you viewed. It identifies your strengths, skill gaps, and upskilling recommendations based on real job data. All users can manually review and update their skills anytime from the Profile page in their dashboard.

What is interview prep Q&A?

A

For any job you’re interested in, you can generate 8–10 interview questions tailored to THAT specific job — not generic “tell me about a time…” questions. Each question comes with a suggested answer based on your background and the job description. Review and practice before your real interview. Available on all plans.

What is a mock interview?

A

A full-screen interview simulation where Nova plays the hiring manager. You answer questions out loud (30–45 minutes total). Afterward, you receive an email with a full transcript and AI feedback on each answer — strengths, areas to improve, and an overall confidence assessment. Plus users get 1 mock/week; Pro users get 3/week.

Why is it only $6 a week? What’s the catch?

A

There is no catch. Our founder spent a year in the job search trenches and knows that when you’re between roles, every dollar matters. $6 a week — or $20 a month — can literally be what makes or breaks a rent payment for someone who hasn’t worked in a while. We use efficient AI to keep costs low so we can price it for the people who need it most.

What’s the difference between Plus and Pro?

A

Plus ($20/month or $6/week): everything in Basic plus 20 Nova messages/day, 1 mock interview/week, weekly coaching emails every Monday, and thank-you note generation. Pro ($28/month or $8/week): everything in Plus plus 30 Nova messages/day, 3 mock interviews/week, 5 custom job submissions/week, and AI recruiter search. Most active job seekers do great with Plus.

Is it easy to cancel?

A

Yes. You can cancel directly from your dashboard — the cancel option is in the top right corner. No phone call, no questions asked, no penalty. Your data stays accessible for 30 days in case you change your mind.

Do I need a credit card for the free trial?

A

No. You can start with the Basic plan without a credit card. Basic gives you access for your first week — including two automated job searches and one tailored resume per job — so you can try Vela before committing to a paid plan.

Q

Can I switch plans anytime?

A

Yes! You can upgrade, downgrade, or switch between weekly and monthly billing anytime from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades apply at the end of your current billing period — so you always get what you paid for.

Q

Is my data private?

A

Absolutely. We use Supabase Row-Level Security, which means your data is physically locked at the database level — no other user can ever access your profile, resume, or job results. Your resume is saved only to your own personal Google Drive. We never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use this?

A

Not at all. Onboarding is a conversation with Nova — not a technical form. If you can use LinkedIn, you can use Vela. Everything else is automated or one-click.
